Scalp fungus (tinea capitis) is ringworm which in certain case can be confined to just the scalp of the head.
In the United States the most common scalp fungus is called Trichophyton Tonsurans.
In countries other than the United States, the microsporum species of fungal scalp infections are more common.
Scalp Fungus often starts in a subtle way and early on can resemble dandruff.
A dermatologist can distinguish between the two.
